This was mainly used used in the hiring/screening process.
Engineers submit their applications to a job listing, HR would select who we would like to screen, they receive an assessment.
Based on the performance of the assessment, they would move on to live assessments.
The HackerEarth database of assessments would sometimes be used to pick the live assessment.
  • Filters out bad engineers
  • Validates resume claims
  • Speeds hiring
  • Better diagnostics
  • More up to date repository
  • Better IDE
HackerEarth Assessments excels in technical hiring with coding challenges. It's ideal for roles emphasizing coding proficiency and remote recruitment, yet may be less fitting for positions requiring strong non-technical skills like communication and collaboration.
  • Speed of hiring
  • Quality of hiring
  • Management overhead of the portal
Compared to HackerRank, HackerEarth Assessments offers a similar coding assessment platform with a focus on tailored challenges for technical hiring. While both platforms assess coding skills, HackerEarth Assessments excels in remote evaluation and diversity outreach. There wasn't the much of a difference, but the UI of HackerEarth was nicer and we got a better price.

HackerEarth is the technical assessment platform that we use to hire new employees. The HackerEarth assessments are given as part of the interview process. We use HackerEarth to assess the aptitude in programming skills from the HackerEarth assessment score. As the score is generated on aspects such as the candidate's problem-solving ability and speed, the HackerEarth assessment serves as a good measure to judge a candidate before that person is called for the next round of interviews.
  • Option of proctored/unproctored assessment.
  • Uniform structure of assessment.
  • Variety of problem sets to choose from.
  • Code editor should be more responsive for auto suggestions.
  • Practice environment should be located in such a way that it should be found easily.
  • A transparent and publicly available pricing.
  • To conduct a preliminary assessment round when there are multiple candidates to choose from. Helps you to filter out candidates on the basis of requirements.
  • The questions that are assigned for each test are different, so the probability of any two candidates getting the exact same questions is very less.
  • However, the questions are based on the same concepts so as to provide an equal ground to all the candidates.
  • However, if you have to choose from less number of candidates you are better off conducting normal interviews, as these tests are time-consuming for both interviewers and employers.
  • Question pool.
  • Data structure and algorithm-based assessment.
  • Report generation.
  • 10 working hours saved weekly which used to be spent on interviews.
  • Approximately 3 employees' worth of manpower is saved.
  • The benefit of allowing assessment in multiple languages allowed the interviewee to concentrate on evaluation on the basis of underlying concepts.
HackerEarth Assessments provides many features which HackerRank doesn't, such as Candidate comparison, 24*7 customer support. It also provides integration with several other applications such as greenhouse, workable, Smartrecruiters, LinkedIn Talent Hub, Prelude, Okta, etc. Also, It's free for candidates who want to gather credibility by putting up their scores on the profile.

Hiring the right candidates is always very tough and dependent on an accurate assessment of the candidate for the required skills. HackerEarth Assessments helps us create specific tests that we can use to evaluate the potential candidates to hire the right fit for our team.
  • The platform is very well designed and the overall experience is very nicely devised, so in a small span of time of the interview also the candidates can easily identify all the necessary platform utilities and give the test in a given time.
  • Wide range of questionnaires from the system itself, so it makes the job of the interviewer very easy to pick any question for the test as well.
  • Simple onboarding and an easy learning curve make it easy for organisations to quickly set up an efficient hiring process.
  • The pricing is also very well thought out and doesn't make life tough for companies.
  • The Pricing is good for mid-size companies, but for a growing startup, it can be a bit high. Maybe they can introduce startup-friendly plans.
  • The Library of the questionnaire can be improved and updated as its long time since it has been revisited.
Here are some scenarios based on my experience where HackerEarth Assessments is well suited,
  1. Straightforward tool and the learning curve is not at all steep so getting new employees onboarded on the tool is smooth.
  2. Job Description related questionnaire library is conducive for quickly setting up
  3. The coding platform is really good, it gives solid ide and amazing debugging abilities for the people being assessed
  4. Their support of different types of assessments be it programs or MCQs is really flawless and quite impressive.
Basically I didn't find any such situations where it didn't perform according to what it is intended to. One thing I would just point out that their pricing strategy could be improved, like it is on the higher side for small scale companies.
  • Creating a pipeline for hiring people.
  • Providing the candidates problems to work on and observe.
  • Assessing the candidates based on the tests.
  • Having a track of how the overall process is working out for the organisation.
  • It has enabled us to hire the right people for our company which has enabled us to create more value for our customers so definitely it had a positive impact on our business value objectives.
Here's the things that HackerEarth Assessments has which makes it a perfect choice against it's competitors -
  • Ease of access
  • Great User Experience
  • Well Established process
  • Developer-friendly IDE & Test platform
  • Excellent support
